Life at Master InnoCARE

The Master InnoCARE offers an enriching and dynamic experience thanks to :

An introductory meeting to explain the programme's objectives and network. Annual events, such as the Winter School and Summer School, to encourage exchanges and intensive learning. A hackaton to stimulate creativity and innovation. Collaboration with a recruitment agency to prepare for professional integration.

Présentation

The GP InnoCARE is an interdisciplinary training programme that offers a choice of training in experimental research, data analysis or clinical research. InnoCARE brings together students with various backgrounds (scientists, health professionals, engineers, etc.).

This programme benefits from the expertise of research unit and the Clinical Investigation Centre (CIC) of the institut du Thorax. It is based on an integrative and translational vision of cardiovascular, metabolic and respiratory diseases, both in care structures and in the laboratory.

At the institut du Thorax, researchers, engineers, clinicians and clinical research professionals work together to diagnose, understand, prevent and treat these diseases. Throughout the training, InnoCARE students will be formed in the various innovative approaches including genomics, the generation of cellular or animal models for the study of pathologies, the identification of biomarkers and therapeutic targets and the development of innovative treatments.

Cardiovascular, metabolic and respiratory diseases are the major causes of death worldwide. The opportunities for academic, industrial and clinical careers are significant. The professional development of each student is placed at the heart of our GP's educational objective.

Why joining the Graduate Programme Innovation for CArdiovascular, metabolic and REspiratory diseases?

Our Graduate Programme rely on student trainings through basic and translational research.

GP InnoCARE scientific areas:

  • Inherited cardiac rhythm diseases
  • Degenerative heart valve diseases and bioprosthesis
  • Chronic and acute heart failure
  • Intracranial aneurysms
  • Atheromatous disease
  • Dyslipidemia, obesity, diabetes
  • Chronobiology
  • Asthma

Innovative approaches and technologies:

  • Genomics: genetics, epigenetics, transcriptomics, molecular medicine;
  • Modelling pathology: induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS), organoids, genome editing/CRISPR cas9, animal models;
  • Integrative phenotyping: high-throughput electrophysiology, multimodal imaging, functional exploration;
  • Biological data analysis: bioinformatics for basic and (pre)clinical research, systems biology;
  • Biomarker identification and new treatments: multiomic approaches, (photo) pharmacology, biotherapies.

What support is available for mobility?

The InnoCARE Master's and Doctoral Programme contributes to the funding of incoming international mobility (for students currently studying abroad at the Institut du Thorax) and outgoing international mobility (for InnoCARE Master's and Doctoral students going abroad).

What are the career prospects ?

Immersion in research from the Master's level onwards to acquire solid practical and theoretical skills. Integration into Nantes University's Master's and Doctorate Programmes (CMD), opening the way to a Doctorate and careers in academia or industry.

The InnoCARE programme has been awarded the Cursus Master-Doctorat / Graduate Programme label by Nantes Université. This means that the course draws on the research skills of internationally recognised laboratories, and trains students in the scientific approach and cutting-edge technologies. The skills acquired enable students to successfully enter the world of work with a Master's degree - in the R&D department of a company or in innovative SMEs, for example - or to continue their studies towards a doctorate degree.
